Coral relocation

Solution

For both coral colonies and coral bommies, we have developed a suite of techniques to successfully relocate corals from the footprint of a project. Our works span from developing a relocation plan following the EIA, the actual relocation to suited recipient sites, to the monitoring of the survivability.

Coral relocation is applied to mitigate damage to corals in offshore infrastructure projects, or for restoration of degraded coral reefs.

We work compliant with the industry standards and have a proven track record for relocation of corals using IMCA as well as SCUBA as best diving practices. We carefully detach coral colonies, and use lifting tools to detach bommies. To ensure safe transport, the corals are placed in baskets or as units, in submerged or deck pools. To increase the success rate of relocation works, we have developed site selection techniques to find the optimal relocation location, and focus on climate-resilience, and genetic diversity.
